History

Step 1

Care kit similar to the one used by Dr Laure Cosimano DMV when she visited her clients at their homes.

In 1995, right after graduating from Université de Montréal's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dr Laure Cosimano, DMV, started her career by setting up an ambulatory veterinary service for companion animals.

By visiting her patients at their homes, she opened her first 300 files.

Step 2

Clinique Vétérinaire de l'Est located in the basement of the family home of Dr Laure Cosimano DMV.

In 1996, Dr Laure Cosimano, DMV, opened the Clinique vétérinaire de l'Est at 6975 Azilda Street in the Anjou District in Montreal.

In the basement of her family's home, with less than 400 square feet and only three employees, the animals' well-being and outstanding customer service were ensured by, among other things, the use of, already back then, highly sophisticated equipment and extensive opening hours.

Step 3

Hôpital Vétérinaire de l'Est's first location.

In 1998, Dr Michel Cosimano DMV graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal and joined his sister as a partner of Clinique Vétérinaire de l’Est. Together, they acquired a new building located at 8674 Chaumont Avenue, a few steps away from their former address, to expand the clinic.

With a total area of 2200 square feet and the purchase of more than 300 000$ worth of additional equipment, the facility now met the requirements of a companion animal veterinary hospital. Thus, Clinique Vétérinaire de l’Est became Hôpital Vétérinaire de l'Est.

Step 4

Hôpital Vétérinaire de l'Est in its current location at 8700 Chaumont Avenue in Anjou District in Montreal.

In 2003, the phenomenal growth of our clientele lead us to further expansion as we were cramped in our premises.

The purchase of a new building at the corner of Chaumont Avenue gave our hospital an area of more than 4000 sq. ft. By purchasing the adjacent land, we were able to further increase the hospital's area to 15 000 sq. ft. as this would ensure our growth for many years to come.

An investment of more than 2 million dollars made it now possible to buy a lot of additional equipment such as a surgical laser, two digital radiographs (DR), an ultrasound with color doppler, a fluoroscope (C-Arm), an endoscope, a more complete and ultra-sophisticated laboratory, advanced dental equipment and equipment for exotic animals such as birds, rodents, rabbits, ferrets, etc.

Additionally, the larger premises now provided 2 waiting rooms, 4 examination rooms and 110 places for hospitalizations of which 23 were reserved for isolation of infectious animals.

The Anjou's District community thus benefitted from the creation of more than 27 jobs. At the time, the hospital employed seven full-time veterinarians, one administrator, about 20 animal health technicians and assistants, one receptionnist and two animal care handlers.

Step 5

In August 2005, shares in the Clinique vétérinaire À Mon Chat were purchased. Located in Boucherville, this small charming clinic offered medical services only to cats.

After a year of association, in September 2006, remaining shares were purchased by the Cosimano family who then became the sole owners of the clinic.

Step 6

Clinique Vétérinaire À Mon Chat's reception area after the renovations in 2009.

During the summer of 2009, we took advantage of the vacation period to renovate the clinic.

Fortunately, despite the extensive work being done, the clinic remained open and we were able to continue serving our clientele during the renovations.

By reorganizing the existing space, we actually gained more space and we became more functional.

Step 7

The waiting room and part of the store of Hôpital Vétérinaire de l'Est in 2010.

In 2010, Hôpital vétérinaire de l'Est continued to grow, with nearly 11 000 additional sq. ft. to even better serve its customers.

Now with nine examination rooms, over 200 cages and pens for hospitalizations and new equipment such as a therapeutic bath, the modernization of our laboratory and the addition of other equipment, we are able to meet the ever-growing demands of our customers, always looking for impeccable quality care.

We have then over 50 team members in our employment which include veterinarians, animal health technicians, receptionists, animal care handlers, janitors and administrators.

Step 8

In march 2012, Drs Cosimano partnered with Dr. Catherine Lavoie, DMV and founded Hôpital vétérinaire du Richelieu inc. located in Beloeil, also on Montreal's south shore. This hospital caters to dogs and cats.

It's also during that same year that Hôpital vétérinaire de l'Est became incorporated and adopted its actual name : Hôpital vétérinaire de l'Est inc.

Step 9

In 2014, Drs Michel and Laure Cosimano partnered once again but this time with Dr. Émilie Piché-Rondeau DMV. The three of them acquired new premises in the same building that Clinique vétérinaire À Mon Chat used to be in.

The greater area of the clinic combined with equipment and material suited to treat dogs allowed them to offer veterinary services to this new clientele. Therefore, Clinique vétérinaire À Mon Chat became À Mon Chat, À Mon Chien, Hôpital vétérinaire inc.

Step 10

Official logo of MONVET Veterinary Group Inc.

In the spring of 2017, after years of shared values and philosophy with their associates, Dr. Laure and Michel Cosimano create Groupe vétérinaire MONVET inc. and formalize the three facilities' association.

Step 11

That same year, in September, brother and sister partnered once again, this time with majority shareholder Dr. Lili Bergeron, DMV, IPSAV, and with minority shareholders Drs. Piché-Rondeau and Catherine Lavoie. Together, they bought the Clinique vétérinaire Bertomeu inc. The clinic's name is thereafter changed to Clinique vétérinaire Au Pied du Mont inc.

With the acquisition of this new entity, four veterinary facilities now belong to Groupe vétérinaire MONVET inc.

Step 12

Founded in 1984, Clinique vétérinaire Rivière-des-Prairies inc. joined Groupe vétérinaire MONVET inc. in November 2019, making it the 5th member of the group.

The clinic is located at a pivotal point in the borough bearing the same name, at the intersection of Anjou, Pointe-aux-Trembles, Montreal North and St-Leonard.

Step 13

To start the year 2020 right, one other clinic joined the group's ranks in January: Clinique vétérinaire De Lille inc.

Established in 1981, this clinic provides veterinary services to the Montreal's St-Michel district's community.

Six veterinary facilities, of which 3 are located directly on the island of Montreal, in the East, are now part of Groupe vétérinaire Monvet inc.

Step 14

In March 2020, the Group grows even more and acquires Clinique vétérinaire St-Jean-Baptiste inc. This small clinic located in Pointe-aux-Trembles has been taking care of pets for 42 years.

The Group now includes 7 veterinary facilities: 3 on Montreal's south shore and 4 on the island itself, in the East.

Step 15

In November 2020, it is Clinique vétérinaire de Lyon inc's turn to join Groupe vétérinaire Monvet inc.

Located in Longueuil, the clinic becomes the 4th member of the group on Montreal's South Shore, for a total of 8 veterinary facilities. The other 4 being on the east end of the island.

Step 16

In 2021, Hôpital vétérinaire de l'Est inc. is getting a makeover. Important renovations will provide a more attractive and functionnal workspace for the staff to work in and greet people and their pets.

The interior design firm Hessa has conceptualized the rooms' reorganization. The general contractor Protech construction will do the work.
