Drug description:

It appears that this drug has the ability to prevent toxins in the digestive tract from being absorbed by attaching to them and creating a protective barrier in the intestinal wall. 

This product can also improve the consistency of diarrheic stools in 24 to 48 hours.

Indications:

Kaolin/Pectin is used in domestic animals to stop diarrhea.

Contraindications:

There are no contraindications to the use of this product.

Side effects:

This medication is safe when used at regular doses. 

The most common side effect is temporary constipation. This usually occurs when large doses are used.

Recommended follow-up:

It is recommended to consult again the veterinarian in charge of the animal if the problem is not resolved at the end of the treatment. 

It is also important to have the animal's hydration status and blood electrolyte level (sodium, potassium, chlorine) checked during treatment, especially when the diarrhea is severe.

Interactions with other drugs:

Kaolin/pectin may interfere with the effectiveness of certain other drugs if used at the same time: Digoxin, Clindamycin, Penicillin and Trimethoprim. 

Please advise the veterinarian if your pet is already taking any drug(s) before starting treatment with kaolin/pectin. This will allow us to make sure that they are compatible.

This medication is available in liquid form.

Storage:

Store at room temperature, protected from frost.

Warning:

Shake the bottle well before each use. 

If diarrhea persists or the animal develops fever, contact a veterinarian. 

Do not rely solely on this product to control severe or chronic diarrhea. The correction of dehydration and electrolyte imbalances is very important too.
