Abcess

An abcess forms when bacteria enter the skin, mainly when it is damaged. In the cat, this happens most often after a bitewound from another cat.

The treatment consists of draining the abcess with a scalpel blade and cleaning it to remove all the pus and the debris. A drain is fixed to the skin for a few days to let the pus run outside of the skin and antibiotics are administered as well.
