Milbemax® (milbemycine)
NAME OF THE MOLECULE:
Milbemycin oxime and praziquantel
DESCRIPTION:
Milbemycin oxime is a macrolide class antiparasitic. Praziquantel is an antiparasitic effective against flat worms.
INDICATIONS:
Milbemax is used to prevent heart worm disease and treat certain flat worms, hook worms and round worms.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Do not use , unless advised by a veterinarian, if your pet is under 6 months of age, is gestating, weighs less than 1.5 pounds or has heartworm disease.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Rarely, it is possible to observe diarrhea or salivation. Your pet may also experience shaking but fortunately it is reversible. If your pet presents serious adverse effects, that worsen or persist, contact your veterinarian immediately.
RECOMMENDED MONITORING:
It is important to observe whether the condition of your pet improves and if he presents any side effects.
INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER MEDICATION:
Do not use this product, unless advised by a veterinarian, if your pet takes amiodarone, an azole antifungal, carvedilol, clarithromycin, cyclosporine, diltiazem, erythromycin, quinidine, spironolactone, tamoxifen or verapamil.
STORAGE:
Store at room temperature. Excess heat or cold are to be avoided.
WARNING:
It is possible to administer this medication in a small amount of food, but it is important to ensure that your pet ingests it properly. Respect the expiration date of the product because an expired product may be less effective or potentially dangerous for the health of your pet. *Keep out of the reach of children and animals.*
