Origins and History: Josephine, a white Turkish angora cat was born in Riverside, in 1960. Her
owner, Ms. Pennels, matched her with a mitted birman, named Daddy Warbucks. Ann Baker
took an interest in the litter, and by breeding them with each other, created the Ragdoll cat,
characterized by its low muscle mass. The breed was accredited in 1965. However, it was
recognized by the GCCF in 1991 and by the FIFe in 1992.

Personality: An affable cat, it loves to play and be pet. It doesn’t tolerate solitude and does
very well in apartments.

Additional notes: It will continue to slowly develop well into its 2 nd or 3 rd year of it’s life and the
permanent colour of the coat will only appear when the cat is 2 years old. Its long fur requires
to be brushed regularly.
