Origin and History: This breed is the ancestor of the Scottish Terrier and the West Highland White Terrier. Born in the West Highlands and the Isle of Skye on the west coast of Scotland.

Personality: This is a fearless dog that tends to be dominant, but not aggressive. A pleasant companion.

Known health problems: disorders of the hip, dislocation of the patella, progressive atrophy of the retina, blood disorders, renal disorders, Legg-Calvé-Perthes.
