Origin and History: The distant ancestors of this breed are Tibetan Mastiffs who were introduced to Europe during the Asian invasions. The Pyrenees mountain has been known since the 17th century.
Personality: It is a dog that has a rather independent character, but they are still affectionate with his master and very sweet with the children. It tends to be dominant, so a firm and early education is essential.
Known health issues: Elbow and hip dysplasia, patella luxation, cataract, entropion, haemorrhage, spinal disorders and sensitivity to anesthesia.
Note: They need a lot of space and exercise, they cannot stand being locked up.
