Acevet® (acepromazine)

Central nervous system tranquilizer and depressant 

Form:

Injectable: 10 mg/ml, pills: 5 mg, 10 mg, 25 mg 

Indications:

Tranquilization, sedation, antiemetic, antispasmodic.

Contraindications:

Hepatic problems, cardiac problems, hypovolemia, hypotension, and cardiovascular shock. 

Side effects:

Hypotension, bradycardia. Reduction in tear production in cats. Can cause aggression in certain individuals. 

Recommended monitoring:

Level of sedation, body temperature, heart rate. 

Interaction with other medications:

Acetaminophen, antacids, derivatives that have an effect on the nervous system, dopamine, emetics, metoclopramide, opioids, organophosphate derivatives, phenothiazine, procaïne, propanalol, quinidine.  

Storage:

Keep away from direct light 

Warning:

When intended for use before transporation, try a dose a few days before to ensure it is adequate. 

Administer 1 hour before transportation, while the animal is calm.
