Rimadyl® is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used in dogs to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. It also acts as an antipyretic, helping to lower fever. This medication is contraindicated in elderly, dehydrated animals or those with coagulation disorders, unless advised by a veterinarian. Side effects include loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased activity. More rarely, it can cause liver and kidney damage. Veterinary monitoring is recommended to assess liver and kidney function. Available in chewable tablets and injectable solution, it must be stored properly.
