Veterinarians involved
The HVE Foundation is a non-profit organization created in 2011 by employees of the Hôpital Vétérinaire de l’Est Inc., a member of the MONVET Veterinary Group Inc.
These big-hearted people wanted to give a second chance to animals often brought in to be euthanized because their owners could no longer care for them and had not found adopters.
The Foundation’s mission is to find a new home for these animals, thus giving them a new life.
First consultations

First clinic

Eastern Veterinary Clinic located in the basement of the family residence of Dr. Laure Cosimano, m.v.
Dr. Cosimano, m.v. opens the Clinique Veterinaire de l'Est in the basement of the family home at 6975 Azilda Street in the Anjou borough of Montreal.
Despite a limited surface area of 400 square feet and an employee list of only 3 people, animal welfare and unparalleled customer service were ensured, among other things, by highly sophisticated equipment and extended opening hours already at the time.

Dr. Michel Cosimano, m.v., graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal and became an associate, with his sister, of the Eastern Veterinary Clinic. Together, they acquired a new building located at 8674 avenue Chaumont, a few steps from their old address, to expand the clinic.
With a total area of 2,200 square feet and the purchase of more than $300,000 in additional equipment, the establishment now meets the minimum standards of practice for a veterinary hospital for pets. Thus, the Clinique Veterinaire de l'Est becomes the Hospital veterinary de l'Est.
Phenomenal growth

The phenomenal growth of the establishment's clientele requires that further expansion take place in order to compensate for the cramped premises.
Thus, a new building located a street corner further, at 8700 avenue Chaumont, and offering an area of more than 4,000 square feet was purchased. By including the adjacent land in addition, the total surface area of the premises then rises to 15,000 square feet, thus ensuring the possibility of development of the business for several years to come.
The more than two million dollars of investment then makes it possible to purchase several additional pieces of equipment such as a surgical laser, two DR (Direct Digital Radiography) digital x-ray machines, an ultrasound machine with color Doppler, a fluoroscope (C-ARM), an endoscope, more efficient laboratory equipment, advanced dental instruments as well as equipment adapted to the medicine of exotic animals (birds, rodents, rabbits, ferrets, etc.).
The largest premises now include 2 waiting rooms as well as 4 examination rooms, and can hospitalize more than 110 animals, including 23 in isolation.
The community of the Anjou district thus benefits from the creation of more than 27 jobs. The hospital then has seven full-time veterinarians, an administrator, around twenty animal health technicians and assistants, a receptionist and two animal handlers.
Shares of the À Mon Chat veterinary clinic are purchased. Located in Boucherville on the South Shore of Montreal, this cute little clinic at the time offered veterinary services exclusively to cat owners.
A year later, in September 2006, the association came to an end and Drs Cosimano then became the sole owners of the À Mon Chat veterinary clinic.
Extensive renovations
Extensive renovations are being carried out in the À Mon Chat clinic. However, the work does not require the closure of the establishment and services continue to be offered during this period. The rearrangement of the existing space then allows you to save a lot of space and be more functional.
Expansion of Hôpital Vétérinaire de l’Est

The waiting room and part of the boutique of the Hospital veterinaire de l'Est. in 2010.
The Hospital Veterinaire de l'Est is expanding again to further improve its customer service.
Now with 9 consultation rooms, more than 200 cages and enclosures for hospitalizing animals, new equipment such as a therapeutic bath and even more modern laboratory equipment, the hospital can meet the ever-increasing demands of its clientele by providing their animals with veterinary care of remarkable quality.
The team then has more than 50 people, including veterinarians, animal health technicians, receptionists, animal handlers, janitors and administrators.

Drs. Cosimano partnered with Dr. Catherine Lavoie, M.V., and opened the Hôpital vétérinaire du Richelieu Inc. located in Beloeil, also on the South Shore of Montreal. The facility offered veterinary services to dog and cat owners.
It was also during the same year that the Hôpital vétérinaire de l'Est was incorporated and adopted its final name, Hôpital vétérinaire de l'Est Inc.

Drs. Cosimano are teaming up again, but this time with Dr. Émilie Piché-Rondeau, m.v. Together, they are acquiring new premises in the same building that previously housed the Clinique vétérinaire À Mon Chat.
Creation of the Mon Vet group
After several years of sharing the same values and the same philosophy with their associates, Drs Laure and Michel Cosimano created the MONVET Veterinary Group Inc. and formalized the association of the three establishments.

In September of the same year, the brother and sister purchased the Clinique vétérinaire Bertomeu inc. in majority partnership with Dr. Lili Bergeron, m.v., IPSAV as well as with Drs. Piché-Rondeau and Catherine Lavoie to a lesser extent. The establishment was then renamed and now bears the name Clinique vétérinaire Au Pied du Mont inc.
With the acquisition of this new entity, four veterinary establishments now belong to Groupe vétérinaire MONVET inc.

Founded in 1984, the Clinique vétérinaire Rivière-des-Prairies inc. joined the Groupe vétérinaire MONVET inc. in November 2019. The group now has five veterinary establishments.
The clinic is located at a strategic point in the borough of the same name, at the intersection of Anjou, Pointe-aux-Trembles, Montréal Nord and St-Léonard.

To start 2020 off right, another clinic is joining the Group's ranks in January: Clinique vétérinaire De Lille inc. Established in 1981, this clinic offers veterinary services to the community of the St-Michel district in Montreal.
6 établissements vétérinaires, dont 3 situés sur l'île de Montréal même, dans l'Est, font maintenant partie du Groupe vétérinaire Monvet inc.

In March 2020, the Group expanded again and welcomed the Clinique vétérinaire St-Jean-Baptiste inc. This small clinic located in Pointe-aux-Trembles has been caring for pets for 42 years.
The Group now has 7 veterinary establishments: 3 on the South Shore of Montreal and 4 on the island itself, to the East.
In November 2020, it was the turn of the Clinique vétérinaire de Lyon inc. to join Groupe vétérinaire Monvet inc.
Located in Longueuil, the clinic becomes the 4th member of the group on the south shore of Montreal, for a total of 8 veterinary establishments. The other 4 are located in the east of the island.
We're getting a makeover
In 2021, the Hôpital vétérinaire de l'Est inc. is getting a makeover. Major renovations will allow staff to work and welcome people and their animals in more attractive and functional premises.
The interior design firm Hessa conceptualized the redevelopment of the premises. The general contractor specializing in the interior design of commercial and industrial premises, Protech construction, will carry out the work.
In 2021, the group acquired a building located in the heart of the residential district of Saint-Amable on the South Shore of Montreal. Thus, near the elementary school, the Clinique vétérinaire de la Rue Principale inc. will be established.
Dr. David Beaudry-Bessette and his team will take care of your pets, big and small!
A new design
In 2022, the time had come to give the Rivière des Prairies Veterinary Clinic a facelift. New reception and store design at the front as well as the addition of a consultation room and a small lounge for visits.
An internal medicine specialist
In 2022, the Eastern Veterinary Hospital took an important step by hiring its first Specialist Veterinarian. Dr. Magali DeCôme, an internal medicine specialist, joined the team. Her presence within our walls ensures that we can all push our medicine further. She is there to treat complex cases or to assist veterinarians on a daily basis.
We're getting a makeover
In 2023 it was the turn of the De Lille veterinary clinic to rejuvenate itself a little. The reception and the shop were optimized and a small office was created for our technician.
Exotic Animal Medicine
In 2023, the Hospital Veterinaire de l'Est hired its second specialist veterinarian. Dr. Julie Pujol joined the team. She founded the exotic animal medicine department. Thanks to her presence, we can now take care of small mammals, birds, reptiles and even fish.
A little rejuvenation treatment
In 2024, it will be the turn of the veterinary clinic at Pied du Mont to refresh its store and create a new consultation room and a small lounge.
Doubled surface area
In 2024, in order to meet the growing demand, we doubled the surface area of the veterinary clinic in Lyon, adding two rooms accessible to clients and more spaces for our hospitalized patients. We now have a complete laboratory on site and dental x-rays.
