Baytril® is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in animals, requiring proper veterinary supervision.
Form
Baytril® is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used in veterinary medicine to treat various bacterial infections in animals. Its active ingredient, enrofloxacin, belongs to the fluoroquinolone family and works by inhibiting bacterial growth. It is commonly prescribed for respiratory, urinary, and skin infections in dogs, cats, birds, and farm animals. Its use must be strictly supervised by a veterinarian, as improper administration may promote the development of bacterial resistance. Possible side effects include digestive issues and, in some species, joint damage. Monitoring during treatment is recommended.

Keep the product in its original packaging, at room temperature, and protected from light. Avoid excessive heat or cold.
It is recommended that cats be examined by a veterinarian during treatment to ensure the treatment is effective and no visible adverse effects are present.
Baytril® can interfere with the effectiveness of certain other medications if used simultaneously. Consult your veterinarian to identify which ones. Also, inform the veterinarian if your pet is already on any medication before starting Baytril®. This ensures compatibility.
Unless advised otherwise by a veterinarian, this product should not be used in animals suffering from seizures, liver (hepatic), kidney, or neurological diseases, or allergies to other antibiotics of the same class. It should also not be used in pregnant or nursing females, or in growing animals. Please consult a veterinarian or review the accompanying product monograph for more information on contraindications.
Enrofloxacin may cause a decrease in appetite and activity levels, as well as diarrhea or vomiting. The medication can also lead to allergic reactions, increased liver enzymes, movement incoordination, seizures, or depression. In cats, the medication may sometimes dilate pupils, damage the retina, cause vision loss, provoke aggression, or increase vocalization (meowing). In dogs, nervousness or crystals in the urine are also observed, though rarely. Please refer to the accompanying product monograph for more information on other possible side effects.
Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Do not stop the treatment before completion, as this can lead to bacterial resistance against the antibiotic. Complete the prescription even if the animal appears to be recovered.
If severe side effects occur, worsen, or persist, contact a veterinarian as soon as possible.
