This product is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has an anticoagulant effect.
Form
Aspirin is sometimes recommended for use in animals, especially dogs and cats, for its anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory properties. However, there are risks associated with this medication, including digestive side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and loss of appetite. It is crucial to consult a veterinarian before administering it, as aspirin can interact with other medications, such as corticosteroids and anticoagulants. In addition, it is contraindicated in animals with a history of aspirin allergies, gastric ulcers, or renal failure. Regular monitoring of coagulation parameters is recommended to ensure the safety of the animal.
Acetylsalicylic acid
Keep dry at room temperature.
It is recommended to check the animal’s clotting factors regularly. The frequency of these follow-ups will be determined by the veterinarian in charge of the animal.
Aspirin® may interfere with the effectiveness of certain other medications if they are used at the same time such as furosemide, spironolactone, penicillins, tetracyclines, phenobarbital, corticosteroids, heparin and other anticoagulants. Please also inform the veterinarian if your pet is already taking any medications before starting treatment with Aspirin®. This will ensure that they are compatible.
Unless otherwise advised by a veterinarian, it should not be used in animals that have previously reacted badly to Aspirin®. The main contraindications are the presence of gastric ulcer, asthma, kidney or liver problems.
